My name is Michael Haskins and I'm originally from McAllen, TX. After graduating from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, TX, I moved to Cambridge, MA to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Physics at MIT. I also have a Masters in the Art of Teaching (M.A.T.) in Science Education from UT Dallas.
I have spent the last twelve years as a science teacher at Greenhill School in Addison, TX. I have experience teaching AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and AP Physics C, as well as Mulitvariable Calculus, on-level physics classes, and junior and senior physics electives. In addition to teaching duties, I also currently serve as an academic advisor to a select group of students, helping them navigate their four years of high school.
Previously at Greenhill, I have served as the 10th Grade Level Dean at Greenhill for two consecutive years where I oversaw programming for our sophomore class and helped advisors work with their respective advisories for the school year.
Separately, I am involved with the AP Physics Reading (most recetly as a Question Leader). Every June I travel to Tampa, FL to help with the scoring process for AP Physics free response questions. I am also currently serving on the AP Physics 2 Development Committee as the high school co-chair, a role in which I help edit multiple choice and free response questions that could be used in future AP Physics 2 exams.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, studying and playing chess, and staying healthy and active. When the weather is nice, I am often riding my bike around White Rock Lake or going for a run on the Katy Trail.
